Two years into second term: Echocho continues to create lasting legacy

For Kogi East Senatorial District, good representation at the Senate had not been this robust with tangible and meaningful achievements until the emergence of Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho in 2019 for the first tenure of office.

June 13, 2025 will mark two years into the second tenure of Echocho as representative of the good people of Kogi East Senatorial District and one should not be at a loss to take a glossary look at the many of his achievements and the visionary leadership he has brought to bear on the senatorial district that has before now been sacrificed on the altar of egocentrism,

Highlighting achievements to his credit, one could say his current tenure as the Senator from 2019 till date along with his current Senate Committee Chairman on Customs and Excise Duties has been marked by innovative policies and transformative leadership which goes beyond traditional governance.

In a rapidly changing society, he has introduced life-changing constituency projects that have direct impacts on the constituents especially in the area of agriculture when he offered agric entrepreneurship starter packs after training and his accomplishments in this regard would greatly contribute to the effort on food security for the nation by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.

His accomplishments in agriculture, road infrastructure, health, and education, showcased his ability to adapt and lead effectively in a rapidly changing world, recognising the importance of equipping the next generation with the tools necessary to thrive in agricultural-driven world.

In one of the agricultural trainings at Ankpa, facilitated by Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho, participants were excited and gave testimonies of rice seedlings, chemicals, and water pumping machines, cash and other implements that would facilitate their venturing into commercial agriculture.

Speaking to the press on the last day of the training, they were unanimous that “agricultural empowerment was most needed at this time, not only for food security, but for their self-employment and sustainability”, boasting that implements distributed to them by the lawmaker in the 10th upper chamber made their day.

Echocho has been involved in providing financial assistance to women and vulnerable groups to help in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) recognising that financial inclusion is essential for unlocking the potential of small businesses at the rural level.

On the National Assembly front, the Distinguished Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho has advocated for legislative reforms to foster economic growth of the nation and promote social justice as well as the financial sector where he is “primus inter pares”.

His passion for good governance is prompting for his ambulatory voice on the floor of the Red Chamber, thus leading to his contribution on critical issues of national discourse. Recently, the four tax reform bills now passed by the National Assembly were initially misunderstood and misconstrued by some critics of the administration. It took the likes of Echocho and other eggheads in the Senate to engage in legislative debate that eventually douse the tension before passage of the bills.
