BREAKING: Bayelsa Senator laments deplorable condition of PDP, writes ancestors of party before defects to APC

Senator representing Bayelsa Central Senatorial District, Konbowei Friday Benson has lamented the deplorable condition of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and drew the attention of the ancestors and founding fathers of the party before he defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

In a letter of resignation from the PDP which he submitted to the Senate and read by the Senate President, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio on Thursday in Abuja, he said, “the Peoples Democratic Party which late Alex Ekwueme, Chief Solomon Lar and other fathers laboriously worked to put together has fallen into wrong hands.”

Part of the letter read: “O Alex Ekwueme, O’Solomon Lar”, the PDP has fallen into wrong hands after you died and joined your ancestors.

After Akpabio read the letter, the read Chamber was thrown into laughter, suggesting mockery of the embattled PDP which was badly hit by gale of defections.

Senator Benson regretted that crisis rocking the PDP would be unresolvable before the election, hence, he has no choice, but to defect to APC, stressing that no politician would wait behind to contest on a party platform that is riddled with crisis.

CAPITAL POST recalled that Governor Duoye Diri of Bayelsa State who was elected on PDP platform for a second term of office in 2023 also defected to the APC alongside members of the State House of Assembly.

Immediately his defection was announced, the Sergeant-At-Arms led him from his seat in the opposition row to the majority row.
