BREAKING: Senate screens INEC Chairman nominee, Prof. Joash Amupitan
The Senate is currently screening the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC Chairman nominee, Prof. Joash Amupitan who was nominated to replace the outgone Prof. Mahmood Yakubu after serving ten years.
Amupitan, a Professor of Law of Evidence of the University of Jos was appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and in an executive communication, Tinubu urged the approval of the Senate so that he could be sworn into office.
On Thursday, Prof. Joash Amupitan, who hails from Ayetoro Gbede in Kogi West Senatorial District arrived the National Assembly in company of the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo.
He was received into the National Assembly chamber by the Senator representing Kogi East and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Customs and Excise Duty, Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho.
Accompanying the nominee to the screening were the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Usman Ododo, and the Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals.
