BREAKING: Ex-PDP LG chairman assassinated in Benue

Suspected hired assassin has killed a former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Tarka Local Government Council of Benue State, Yayough Aondoakaa.

Residents confirmed to some journalists in Makurdi, Benue State capital that he was killed by a highly suspicious politically related issues.

Aondoakaa was killed on Friday at the Wannune Market, and tension gripped the locals immediately he was killed.

Eyewitnesses account in the community said the arsonists invaded the market on motorcycles and asked questions about Aondoakaa’s whereabouts.

Once they found the former PDP chairman, the assailants shot at him at close range before driving out of the market.

According to the residents, this was not the first time such an attempt had been made on Aondoakaa’s life.

Last year, it was gathered that his wife was killed in a failed attempt to assassinate the former PDP chairman.

Benue State has been under gunmen fire for one reasons or the order leading to accusations and counter accusations.

Meanwhile, Benue State Police Command was yet to issue a formal statement on the incident.
