AMAC Chairmanship: Female APC aspirant vows to defeat 22 male opponents

A female aspirant vying for the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mrs. Jennifer Nnamudi, has expressed confidence that she will emerge victorious over her male counterparts at the party’s primary election scheduled for June 25, 2025.

Speaking to journalists after obtaining her Nomination and Expression of Interest forms at the APC headquarters in Abuja on Monday, Mrs. Nnamudi, who is the only female in the race, declared her readiness to lead and asserted that the 22 male aspirants would have to line up behind her.

“We have traces of people that have chaired AMAC, but we have a woman that has done it better than all of them, which is Esther Anazodo. She has done greatly. I want to start from where she stopped because I know that I can do it better. They say what a man can do, a woman can do better—and you know we are good managers. When you give a woman a house, she is going to make it a home. So I am here to make a home for AMAC,” she said.

Mrs. Nnamudi added that she does not anticipate any major obstacles in her quest for the chairmanship seat, expressing optimism about her chances despite the presence of the incumbent chairman, Christopher Maikalangu, in the race.

“By the special grace of God, I don’t think there will be any challenges. I am happy to be running with the incumbent chair. We welcomed him to our party, but I told him that all the men, 22 in number, are going to queue behind me while I take the mandate. As the only woman, God has designed it that we are taking the mandate,” she declared.

Outlining her policy priorities, the aspirant promised to tackle insecurity, improve healthcare access—especially for women—and provide consistent empowerment opportunities through skill acquisition programs.

“I am here for my people. I am here for the good of AMAC people because most of them have suffered insecurity. It has been going on for a very long time. Secondly, there are hospitals everywhere, but most pregnant women cannot buy vaccines, they cannot do anything for themselves. So I will make most of the medical services free, and we are going to do skill acquisition three times a year for our people,” she said.
