Bandits storm Gusau, abduct two councilors, Chief Imam
Dare devil Armed bandits on Wednesday stormed Gusau, capital of Zamfara State and abducted two serving councilors and the Chief Imam of Zamfara without any security challenge until they are gone.
Those abducted are identified as Surajo Dangaladima, Councilor representing Gidan Goga Ward, and Rabi’u Bashari, Councilor representing Tsubiri Ward, both in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Reports said, the victims were seized in their residences on Wednesday night at Tsunami Quarters, Gusau.
The abduction was confirmed to newsmen by the Chairman of Maradun Local Government Council, Hon. Sanusi Dosara on Wednesday.
He said, the abduction took place in Gusau and not within Maradun, disclosing that the bandits’ original target was a resident of Kaura-Namoda living in the area, but when they failed to locate him, they abducted the councilors and the Imam.
Zamfara State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Yazid Abubakar, also confirmed the incident, saying that additional personnel have been deployed to the area to rescue the victims on directive of the State Commissioner of Police.
Abubakar urged residents to provide security agencies with timely and useful information about suspicious movements or criminal activities in their communities.
