BREAKING: Christopher Musa tipped as Badaru’s replacement – Source

The immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa has been tipped for replacement of Mohammed Badaru who late Monday resigned as Minister of Defence, CAPITAL POST authoritatively reports.

Badaru resigned his appointment as Minister of Defence, citing health grounds, but inquiries were still ongoing if there was something to his resignation than meets the eyes, even as President Bola Tinubu few days ago declared the state of emergency in security sector and was expected to carry out some reforms that would support his administration’s readiness to frontally tackle insecurity.

A source close to the Villa said, the Ex-Chief of Defence Staff had a brief meeting with President Bola Tinubu on Monday at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Though the discussion was behind closed doors and the former military chief did not speak to the press after the meeting, his visit may not be unconnected with taking over the office of the Minister of Defence.

The Kaduna State born military echelon was retired alongside others by President Tinubu on October 24, 2025, despite the public belief that he did well in office, given that the rate of insurgency went down particularly in Kaduna South Senatorial district, his home state

Meanwhile, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga in a statement on Monday confirmed the resignation of the Minister of Defence and added that the name of his successor would be forwarded to the Senate for confirmation in few days.
