Officers and men of Police trained on combat readiness, weapon handling in Kogi

The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, led from the front as he delivered a strategic and selfless lecture on modern policing and weapon handling during Course 14 of the in-house combat training for officers across various divisions and formations of the command. The rigorous training session was held at the Police Mobile Force Base 37, Lokoja.

The CP lectured the trainees on self-discipline and learning how to handle weapons in a safe and responsible manner. Stressing on the principles of weapon handling, fundamentals of marksmanship which includes body position, trigger control, follow-through as well as weapon maneuver which is the actions beyond a basic attack using a weapon to gain a tactical advantage in combat operation.

In a demonstration of tactical proficiency, the trainees executed combat parades, including rifle stripping and assembling drills, which drew commendation from instructors and senior officers present for their skillful and synchronized performance.

Addressing the officers, CP Dantawaye charged them to internalize and apply the knowledge gained during the training in the discharge of their duties, emphasizing that such capacity building efforts should not be treated as routine or forgotten, but as a critical part of effective policing. He urged the participants to remain vigilant, professional, and committed to obeying lawful instructions from appropriate authorities, stressing that professionalism remains a non-negotiable cornerstone of the Nigeria Police Force.

The CP further reiterates that the ongoing in-house Refresher Training will be sustained by the Command to continue to give opportunities for Officers to be equipped with the basic knowledge and skills to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery.
