Three kidnap victims rescued, six arrested in Bauchi – Police

Three kidnapped victims have been rescued, while six other suspects were arrested over alleged abduction at Euga Village in Toro Local Government Council of the State by personnel of the Bauchi State Police Command.

The development was disclosed in a statement by Bauchi State’s Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, on Wednesday in Bauchi, saying the rescue followed a distress call from a resident in the community.

The Police said, the operation happened on September 29, 2025, at about 12:01 a.m., “when the Bauchi State Command received a timely distress call from a vigilant member of the community, reporting an attack by unidentified individuals who had abducted three males from Euga village, Toro LGA: Idi Umar, Idi Lawan, and Musa Lawal.”

According the Police wasted no time to mobilise themselves into action from the Toro Area Command, Toro Division, and Nabordo Division, alongside local security partners, to respond to the situation.

“The combined forces successfully tracked the suspects to the outskirts of the village and engaged them in a professional operation that led to the safe and unharmed rescue of the victims.

“Additionally, six suspects have been apprehended in connection with this incident,” Wakil added.

The suspects were identified as Abubakar Usman, Adamu Alo, Abubakar Aliyu, Umar Habu, Abubakar Mamman Abubakar, and Shehu Samb.

Wakil noted that the victims had since been reunited with their families in good health, adding that investigations were ongoing to uncover the motives behind the abduction.

He said, “The suspects will be transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Bauchi, for a thorough profiling process and will be formally charged in court once investigations are completed.”

The statement also quoted the state Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, as reaffirming the command’s commitment to safeguarding residents.

“The Commissioner of Police emphasises the Command’s steadfast dedication to ensuring the safety and security of all residents.

“He urges the community to remain alert and engaged, encouraging citizens to share vital information that will aid the police in maintaining law and order in the state,” it added.

The latest rescue came less than two weeks after the command, as reported by PUNCH Metro on October 2, foiled another kidnap attempt in Alkaleri Local Government Area and arrested three suspected kidnappers armed with AK-47 rifles.

At the time, Wakil stated that the operation was part of the command’s proactive measures to combat insecurity, following a distress call received on September 28, 2025, from Maso Kano village in Jada Pali District, reporting an armed assault by the suspects.
