Open Letter to Senate President, Dr. Godswill Akpabio [Justice for Kris Ekefre]

Dear Distinguished Senate President,

l feel strongly about you doing your duty and I think of you always pleasantly. Wittingly or unwittingly, you are a carrier of values, not minding the burden, the heat and the crux of leadership, you are always putting the interest of citizens first. Your leadership naturally attracts and inspires true followership. No wonder why posterity will always remember you as a man who is always having the best and most harmonious administration wherever providence takes you, where nobody knows anything called tribe or state.

History will not forget two kings: The one who turned a desert into a settlement and the other who destroyed a settlement. You certainly belong to the first class of the king who turned a desert into a settlement as clearly seen in your impeccable record of achievements when you were an Executive Governor of Akwa lbom State. Your words, ” God has given me the opportunity to be an uncommon transformer wherever I go.”

As a clear representation of the cherished virtue, humility, Nigerians are seeing you as working for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, when you are simply building a partnership that works, that is, working together with the Executive and the Judicial arms of government, quelling, tranquilizing and mitigating with your values intact.

Even the banana, whenever it leaves the bunch, it gets peeled and eaten. The same applies to the broom which is the symbol of your party. The hundred parts of the body are all complete in their places. They need each other to function and they function equally. You believe in democracy that encourages dialogue and you fight shy offering war but always kneeling for peace.

JUSTICE FOR KRIS EKEFRE

Your words as a Governor, “l have been trying to address years of injustice and marginalisation. I look at development as something that should be holistic. We should not have development targeted at any particular area to the detriment of others. Anybody in government should ensure that resources go round to all and sundry.”

You are always running a government of inclusivity. This postulation should be replicated in Kris Ekefre, the man who has the bidding of our Holy Writ that, “The light of the eyes rejoices the heart and a good report makes the bones healthy.” A man who has written, published and distributed copies of the following books within the life of this administration: 1. The ‘Eagle Has Landed ‘_distributed during your political campaign. 2. On Eagle’s wings — distributed at the event centre after your swearing in as the Senate President in Abuja.

3. ‘Album of Achievers’ __ scheduled for presentation on the 14th December, 2024 at the National Universities Commission, Maitama, Abuja after a letter to your office and personal meetings and invitation cards to 1. Dr. Sylvester Okonkwo, the former chief of staff to the Senate President 2. Pastor Anietie Ukpe 3. Mr. Mfon Jackson
4. Mr. Clement lkpatt 5. Prophetess Ekanem 6. Hon. Nkereuwem Ebong and 7. Mr. Chidi.

You have settled so many Akwa lbom people and beyond, built many homes, fed the hungry, the unprecedented records abound. You have always believed in a work which has the goal of helping people. Edmund Burke has said that the only way evil can prevail in this world is for good men to do nothing. You have done something and have improved lives.

You are in the front line of effective service. The question on the lips of the people of Akwa lbom State is, ” was Kris Ekefre sowing the wrong seeds and can only reap the wrong harvest?” Today the Biblical Book of Chronicles is opened and the King in the person of the Senate President is asking his Legislative Aides and Personal Assistants,

“What shall be done unto the man whom the King delights to honour?” They will think in their hearts that one of them will be given higher position like Dr. Sylvester Okonkwo, the former Chief of Staff, who is now heading the South East Commission and Dr. Nkereuwem Ebong who is now one of the members of the South South Commission.

They will say all the good things that should be done to the man whom the King delights to honour and this will be done to Kris Ekefre. He will command them to bring the book of Records of the Chronicles and they will be read before him and it will be found written that Kris Ekefre, the Mordecai of this day, wrote five books on the Senate President in two years, these books have good reports which make the bones healthy.

And the Senate President, the King, will say, what honour and dignity hath been done to Kris Ekefre for this? Then said the Senate President’s servants, there’s nothing done for him. Immediately the Senate President will send for Kris Ekefre to be honoured by giving office.
