….We won’t accept thuggery

The PDP Senatorial Candidate for Jigawa South-West District, ex-IGP, Barr. Suleiman Abba, has warned that any attempt to manipulate or hijack the 2027 senatorial election will be resisted.

Suleiman Abba, a retired Inspector General of Police, issued the warning on Tuesday while briefing journalists at the state PDP Secretariat in Dutse. He spoke ahead of the party’s scheduled campaign flag-off for the August 19 election.

Abba explained that his name appears on the INEC portal as the legitimate PDP candidate for Jigawa South-West and that as a former law enforcement officer, he is committed to ensuring a peaceful and hitch-free campaign.

“Naysayers may try to use any means to disrupt our plans. We will not accept any form of irregularities or manipulation before, during, or after the elections,” Abba said.

“We will not deploy political thugs during our campaigns. Any group or individual that attempts to disrupt our activities with thugs will regret their actions.”

The retired IGP, who rose from ASP to IGP, ventured into politics in 2019. He initially sought the senatorial ticket under the APC, but the party picked another candidate.

Abba pointed out that his guiding principle is the fear of God, and that his academic background degrees in History and Law would help him provide effective representation for the district in the Senate.

He listed job creation for unemployed youth, agricultural support through inputs and modern machinery, and tackling insecurity as his top priorities.

“As a security expert, I will work to curb insecurity in affected areas. Employment and agriculture are also key. Other areas will follow, but we must start with one thing at a time,” he assured.
