Ex-Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Nasarawa State, Yusuf Shehu Usman taken a scathing criticism of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, for seeking support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

He said Wike’s call for the Peoples Democratic Party’s support for the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, amounts to political suicide, wondering what PDP stand to gain.

He said the reported arrangements without any reciprocal commitment by the APC-led government could undermine PDP’s interests.

The AG’s reaction was sequel to Wike’s call for all PDP members to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the forthcoming 2027 general election, dismissed claims that support for Tinubu would yield benefits for PDP members.

Reacting to the development in a statement on Thursday, Usman described the reported move as politically suicidal for the opposition party, questioning what the PDP would gain from supporting the APC while competing against it in state elections.

He argued that the support for the APC would not make meaningful outcome for the party and will not serve the interest of members.

Usman said: “The question is, will the APC vote for the candidates of the PDP in the state elections? If not, what is the gain for the PDP as a political party in this kind of weird and politically suicidal arrangement?

“It is, at best, a bizarre rainbow which will not make rain.”
