2027: Ganduje declares Abba Yusuf APC leader, says nobody will contest governorship ticket with him

Former Governor of Kano State and the immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has assured Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf that he would get the 2027 ticket on APC platform to contest for second term of office as governor of Kano State.
He said, all serving governors on the APC platform are political leaders of their respective States, hence, he declared Yusuf as the leader of APC in Kano.

He assured the governor of electoral victory having defected to the APC from the New Nigeria Political Party, NNPP, noting that all governorship aspirants in the APC have agreed to support and work with him.
He welcomed Yusuf back to the fold, stressing that his come-back would attract benefits to the people of Kano and the party.

He assured of the governor of electoral victory in 2027 general election, as nobody will contest APC governorship ticket with him, even as all aspirants have thrown their weight behind him.
Ganduje recalled that Yusuf was a member of APC at its formative stage before he left for the NNPP, adding that his defection was a homecoming.
“This is a memorable and historic occasion. Your Excellency, you are welcome back home to the APC. When the party was formed, you were with us, but later political differences and misconceptions led you away. Now you are back,” he stated.
The former Kano governor described Yusuf as a progressive politician whose leadership style and disposition align with the ideology of the APC.
“We know you as a progressive politician from your perception, utterances and disposition. APC is perfect with you,” Ganduje said.
He further declared that, in line with APC tradition, Governor Yusuf automatically becomes the leader of the party in Kano State.
“In APC, all serving governors are leaders of the party in their respective states. Therefore, you are the leader of the APC in Kano State,” he said.
Ganduje also assured the governor of equal treatment within the party and expressed confidence that the APC would record sweeping victories in future elections.
“As you are coming in, we assure you that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will also win the 2027 election. APC will stand solidly with you,” he added.
Governor Yusuf resigned his membership of the New Nigeria Political Party and joined the APC formally on Monday in a brief ceremony that attracted mammoth crowd at the Government House, Kano.
