2027: Jonathan agrees to contest presidency, close associate confirms
Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has agreed to join the presidential race in 2027, a close political associate who craved anonymity has confirmed.
The political associate who is a Bayelsan-born disclosed that ex-President Jonathan agreed following persuasion by the well-meaning Nigeians who urged him to contest on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, given that it was the turn of the South.
He told journalists that discussion and consideration for the former President to join the race on PDP platform has been ongoing behind the scene for a long time, but agreed recently, saying that Nigerians he left behind when he was defeated in 2015 have been in deep poverty and suffering.
The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC is sure of allowing President Bola Tinubu to fly its flag given that nobody is willing to contest against him in the party fold.
If Jonathan’s willingness to slug it out with Tinubu is confirmed by him, the political trajectory in 2027 may be too hard to predict.
