Businesswoman Aisha Achimugu loses N10 billion suit to EFCC
Lagos socialite and businesswoman, Aisha Achimugu has lost a lawsuit she instituted against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC demanding a compensation of N10 billion for searching her residence and seizure of her properties.
The abuse of her fundamental human rights which she contended collapsed before Justice M.S. Liman of the Federal High Court, Abuja on Momday.

In a statement by the Economic and Financial Crimes Comission on Monday, said Aisha’s move to challenge the action of the anti-graft agency cannot stand the rest of law as the agency has powers discharge its statutory responsibility.
The statement read, “In the originating suit no: FHC/ABJ/CS/466/2026, Achimugu approached the court for determination of whether the defendant, EFCC’s action of searching her house and seizing her cars and jewelries and other items was within the powers of the Commission.”

CAPITAL POST reports that Achimugu sought to block the EFCC from threatening or harassing and restraining the agency from invading her residence in guise of looking for exhibits.
The businesswoman also sought N10bn in damages from the commission over what she described as an invasion of her privacy.
The EFCC said Justice Liman held that the commission had the power to search Achimugu’s residence after receiving intelligence concerning her alleged criminal activities.
“EFCC has the right to search the residence,” the judge was quoted as saying in the statement.
“The judge said that Achimugu and her legal representatives failed to show reason to warrant the kind of damage she demanded from the EFCC and equally dismissed the request for N10 billion damages,” the statement read.
“The court therefore held that the matter lacked merit and was dismissed because ‘it is frivolous and it was brought in bad faith’,” the statement added.
