APC a threat to me in Rivers, Wike cry out amid declaration of Fubara as political leader

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has cried out saying the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC has become a threat to him in Rivers State ahead of 2027 general election.

Wike’s outcry was at the backdrop of the leadership of APC in Rivers State that has been handed over to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and given that the governor and Wike have been at each other’s jugular over political control of the oil rich State, the development was a disappointment to him.

The FCT Minister who was a former governor of Rivers State expressed his disbelief over the handing over of APC leadership to Fubara, while speaking on a live media chat with journalists in Abuja on Sunday.

Recently, Wike had a tar brush with the National Scribe of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Basiru Ajibola where he was told to resign from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu government, but Wike who believed he had worked for the APC despite being a Chieftain of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP dared APC to do their worst.

Wike had made the members of Rivers State House of Assembly to defect to APC, hence, his comments highlights the political maneuver between him and the leadership of the APC in Rivers.

He was emphatic that the defection of Fubara from PDP to APC was injurious to his political domination in Rivers and shaking the very fabrics of the grassroots support base in the State.

According to him, there was unprecedented federal appointments and empowerment by the APC administration in Rivers State, stressing that the APC’s growing footprint there has heightened competition for loyalty and political advantage.

“Since the history of Rivers State, be it military or civilian, we have never had that kind of political appointments at the Federal level … so it’s a threat,” he said.
