Bandits massacre 50 in fresh attack on Zamfara community

Dare devil bandits again carried out a devastating attack on Dutsin Dan Ajiya village, in Anka Local Government Council of Zamfara State on Friday night killing 50 residents.

The remains of victims have been robed in white for burial according to Islamic rites Saturday.

A resident who escaped by the whiskers explained on condition of anonymity, saying, bandits came with sophisticated weapons and raided the village as they move from house to house, while shooting sporadically to scare local security operatives.

Bandits, he said, also blocked access road to stop people from running away while some of them hibernated in the bushes around the village.

Amid sporadic gunshots, villagers who tried to escape were gunned down.

“After the attack, we realised that 30 people were killed; some were wounded, while several others are at large and nobody knows their whereabouts.”

Some residents were also abducted into the forest by bandits, but their numbers could not be confirmed as at press time.

Zamfara State Police Command was yet to issue a statement to that effect as at Saturday.
