Edo based estate developer assassinated after Church service in Benin

Suspected assassins have killed an Edo based estate developer, Umweni Joel Isibor at his shop at 2nd Ugbor Area, GRA, Benin City, capital of Edo State.

The late Isibor was reportedly trailed from a church where he attended Easter service, marking the death of Jesus Christ at about 7p.m on Friday the 25th of April 2025 and was short at a close range by a yet-to-be identified assailants..

The gunmen posed as clients, stormed his shop in their operational vehicle and after shooting him, he was left in the pool of his own blood.

The Edo State deputy Governor, Dennis Idahosa confirmed the tragedy via a post of his visit to the widow and children of the deceased on social media, Sunday.

It is with sadness that I paid a condolence visit to the family of late Mr. Umweni Joel Isibor, a businessman and an estate developer, who was gruesomely murdered by yet to be identified persons on Friday, 25th April, 2025.

“While condoling with the grieving family, I promised to take this personally that everyone involved is brought to book”, he wrote on Facebook.

“Isibor just finished attending a church service Easter church service on Friday. I am sure he wanted to tidy up things at his shop when those guys drove down and shot him”, a dependable source said the State government has ordered manhunt for the culprits behind the murder of the Realtor.

There were speculations making round that his assassination was cult-related.
