Ekiti Guber: APC Unveils 150-Member National Campaign Council

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled the composition of the National Campaign Council for the forthcoming Ekiti State governorship election scheduled for June 20, 2026.
The inauguration of the 150-member council took place at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja on Wednesday.

Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Uba Sani, will serve as Chairman of the council, while Senate President Godswill Akpabio will serve as Co-Chairman of the council. Senator Opeyemi Bamidele is the Secretary.
The party is seeking a second term for the incumbent governor, Biodun Oyebanji.

According to the APC, members of the council were carefully selected from among some of the most experienced and accomplished progressive politicians in the country to provide strategic direction and effective coordination ahead of the election.
Speaking at the inauguration, the National Chairman of the party, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, who officially unveiled the council, said the re-election of Governor Oyebanji presents an opportunity to showcase his administration’s remarkable achievements and ensure continuity in governance.
According to him, “This assignment is not merely ceremonial. It is an opportunity to showcase the remarkable achievements of Governor Oyebanji’s administration and to ensure that the people of Ekiti continue to enjoy the dividends of progressive governance.
“I can testify as an eyewitness that this administration is performing exceptionally well. The governor has demonstrated commitment to the welfare of the people through social protection programmes, scholarships, healthcare support, road construction, and the opening up of farming communities across the state.
“We celebrate him, and we thank God for giving him to the people of Ekiti State and to our great party.”
He expressed confidence that the calibre of members on the committee would ensure the party’s victory at the polls.
“Mobilisation will not be a problem. The capable men and women seated here are ready to provide whatever support is necessary to ensure victory,” he stated.
In his acceptance speech, the Chairman of the Council, Governor Uba Sani, appreciated the leadership of the party for entrusting the committee with the assignment.
The Council chairman, while expressing confidence in Governor Oyebanji’s popularity and performance, said he was optimistic that the governor would surpass the number of votes he garnered in the 2022 governorship election.
He said, “As we embark on this journey, I wish to acknowledge the remarkable achievements of my brother, the Governor of Ekiti State, Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
“In the 2022 governorship election, he secured 187,057 votes, defeating his closest rival by a margin of more than 104,000 votes. This resounding victory was not merely an electoral mandate but a clear endorsement of the APC’s people-centred governance and development agenda.
“Our goal in the forthcoming election is to build on this success and surpass previous achievements. We are targeting a significant increase in voter turnout and support for our party. This is not just about winning an election; it is about reaffirming the people’s confidence in good governance and ensuring that their trust is rewarded.
“I am pleased to announce that we have established robust structures across all local government areas and the 177 wards of the state. This grassroots engagement forms the foundation of our strategy to ensure that every citizen is reached, mobilised, and encouraged to participate in this crucial election.
“Our campaign will not merely consist of rallies and political activities; it will be a movement that resonates with the aspirations and hopes of the people.”
The council is also divided into 11 subcommittees, each headed by a chairman and secretary. The subcommittees include Election Planning and Management, Finance and Resource Mobilisation, Contact and Grassroots Engagement, Logistics and Campaign Management, Protocol, Media and Publicity, Security, Special Interest (PWD) Mobilisation, Women’s Mobilisation, Youth Mobilisation, and the Secretariat Committee.
