He stated this in a statewide broadcast on Friday after he resumed office, noting that the State of Emergency imposed by President Bola Tinubu was quite challenging, but allowed feuding parties to reconcile.

“In the course of the six-month period, Mr. President graciously brokered the peace process with all the parties successfully. Our Leader, His Excellency, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, all members of the Rivers State House of Assembly and I, as your Governor, have all accepted to bury the hatchet and embrace peace and reconciliation in the best interest of our dear Rivers State,” he said.

President Bola Tinubu lifted the emergency rule on Wednesday in a broadcast after Fubara had spent six months suspension.

The governor was suspended from office on 28th March 2025, longside all democratic structures which triggered scathing criticism against President Tinubu.

The emergency lasted until mid-September, at which point democratic governance was restored.

During the crisis, a peace deal was brokered with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, ending their public rift.
The governor’s announcement comes amid lingering political tensions in Rivers, which have seen repeated clashes between rival factions loyal to him and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

Meanwhile, the State House of Assembly conducted plenary on Wednesday few hours after the State of Emergency was lifted.
