IDF Strikes Symbol of Regime Excess: Khamenei’s plane destroyed

The Israel Defense Forces delivered a pointed message to the Iranian people on March 16, 2026, announcing the destruction of an aircraft once used by the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

In a Farsi-language post and accompanying video from the IDF’s official Persian account, the military framed the strike as a direct blow against the regime’s corruption. The statement declared: “The destruction of the leader’s plane is a symbol of the end of the era of corruption. Instead of attending to the interests of the Iranian people, this plane advanced his terrorist dealings across the world.”

The IDF added that the attack represents another step in weakening the terrorist regime’s ability to rebuild itself. The plane, targeted in a precise overnight strike at Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport, had served senior officials and military figures for domestic and international travel, including coordination with allied terror networks.

Reports from Reuters and other outlets confirm the Israeli Air Force carried out the operation as part of the ongoing US-Israeli campaign that began February 28, 2026, which eliminated Khamenei and degraded key IRGC assets.

Iranian responses on X showed widespread approval among opposition voices, with many urging further strikes on symbols of repression like jamming systems and remaining regime figures. The action underscores Israel’s focus on dismantling the structures that sustained the Islamic Republic’s terror financing over domestic welfare.
