Mr Sunday Adeyemo, a Yoruba nation agitator has claimed that armed men from Ilorin invaded the residence of a popular traditionalist Tani Olohun in the early hours of Tuesday in Ibadan.

He expressed concern that fully armed men came all the way from Ilorin attempting to abduct Tani Olohun from his residence.

Igboho said the development created tension in the neighbourhood as residents resisted the alleged attempt to whisk Tani Olohun away.

According to Igboho, he received a distress call in the midnight by the neighbours of Tani Olohun that some unidentified gunmen are attempting to abduct him.

The agitator said, the neighbours told that the gunmen came from the neighbouring Kwara State, particularly Ilorin, prompting him to move with his operatives.

On getting to the residence of Tani Olohun residence in Ayegun Oleyo area, of Ibadan he met a disturbing situation as the traditionalist laid down unconscious.

“I had to move there with my people to ascertain what was happening, only to discover Tani Olohun lying unconscious on the ground after being beaten to a stupor,” he alleged.

Igboho further alleged that the armed men also attacked another woman in the neighbourhood who had recently undergone a cesarean section.

“Another woman who recently had a cesarean operation was also attacked,” he said.

He also claimed that the armed men blocked the access road leading to the area during the alleged operation, restricting movement and making it difficult for people to reach the scene.

“The armed men blocked the access road, but we were able to rescue Tani Olohun and restore peace in the community,” Igboho said.

Igboho said residents resisted attempt to whisk the traditionalist away on a serious confrontation.

Residents reportedly raised the alarm over the presence of the armed men in the community, while the situation generated panic among people living in the area.

Although the men were reportedly believed by residents to be police officers who had allegedly travelled from Ilorin, the exact identity of the officers, the reason for the attempted arrest and the authority under which they were operating remained unclear as of the time of filing this report.

The circumstances surrounding the alleged attack on Tani Olohun and the woman who reportedly recently underwent a cesarean section also remained unclear.
