IDF in operation in Syria

According to a report by Al Jazeera English on Thursday October 22, 2026, Israeli forces entered a village in southern Syria early Thursday, deploying snipers on residential rooftops and opening fire in populated areas, Syrian media reports.

The troops reportedly raided Jamlah village in the western countryside of Daraa province, where they positioned snipers on top of residential buildings and searched several homes.

Alikhbariah TV reported that Israeli forces also fired indiscriminately in neighbourhoods during the operation, raising further concerns about the safety of civilians caught up in the incursion. No further details about casualties or the extent of damage were provided in the report.

The raid came a day after Israeli tanks shelled the outskirts of Abidin village, also in western Daraa, according to the same broadcaster.

The latest operation adds to a series of reported Israeli military incursions into southern Syria, where tensions have persisted over Israel’s presence in areas near the occupied Golan Heights and the Syrian buffer zone.

Damascus has repeatedly condemned Israeli military activities in its territory, describing them as violations of Syria’s sovereignty and calling for international pressure to stop them. The continued operations have also raised concerns about the prospects for stability in the region.
