Large cache of arms found in Malami’s Kebbi residence, to face DSS probe

Abubakar Malami, the immediate past Attorney-General and Minister of Justice of Justice in the former President Muhammadu Buhari administration has been plunged into deeper mess once again, large cache of arms and ammunitions were recovered from his Kebbi residence after a raid was carried out by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
The senior may face fresh investigation by the Department of State Security, DSS as the weapons have been handed over to them, having not within the ambit of the EFCC to probe possession of illegal arms and ammunition.

The search for money by the EFCC operatives led to the shocking discovery of arms and ammunition which CAPITAL POST gathered that the former AGF will face serious investigation.
Prior to now, Malami was arrested alongside his wife, Asabe and son, Abdulaziz over money laundering allegation and 57 properties worth N213 billion, but granted bail after spending weeks behind the bars.

The arms palaver became clearer as the DSS operatives were hibernating around Kuje Correctional Centre to re-arrest him over fresh charges, but Malami suddenly became sluggish in perfecting his bail conditions as he suspected that he would be picked up over discovery of weapons in his Kebbi house.
A source said: “The former minister is being separately investigated for allegedly having arms in his house in Birnin Kebbi. The inventory of the shock find has been handed over to the DSS.
“It is now left to Malami to explain to the DSS how he came about the arms. That’s why he is yet to perfect his bail conditions. He is holed up in prison to avoid arrest by the DSS.
