Obedient Movement warns against threats to Peter Obi, vows consequences over alleged Edo attack

The Obedient Movement on Wednesday warned individuals allegedly behind threats and attacks against former presidential candidate, Peter Gregory Obi, to desist or face consequences, saying it had gathered intelligence on the incident that occurred in Edo State.
The group, through a statement signed by it’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Coordinator, Daniel Dumije, said it deliberately delayed issuing a statement to investigate the circumstances surrounding the Edo incident, those allegedly responsible, and what it described as subsequent threats.

“We have taken our time to investigate what happened in Edo State, what led to it, those behind the dastardly act, their subsequent threats, and what is likely their next move. That is why we did not rush out with a statement immediately,” the group stated.
Armed with what it called credible information, the movement issued a strong warning to those it accused of attempting to provoke its members by threatening or attacking Obi, urging them to reconsider their actions “and save Nigeria from unimaginable consequences.”

The group said its members were peace-loving and law-abiding citizens but cautioned that continued provocation would not be tolerated.
“It is a well-known fact that no person or group of persons has a monopoly on rascality and violence. We are not political thugs or motor park touts; we are men and women of great means, upwardly mobile, and with a great sense of responsibility,” they said.
While reaffirming its commitment to pursuing political change through peaceful means, the movement warned that it would respond decisively if pushed further.
“We have decided to stop the rape of our country by conscienceless
and wicked individuals masquerading as leaders by any means possible. We will achieve this through every peaceful means. But if and when we are pushed to the wall, we can assure those doing the pushing that we will never look for a way of escape by trying to break the wall and continue running like lily-livered men and women. Instead, we will definitely pay the cowards in their own coin because Nigeria belongs to all of us.
“We also want to let those bent on intimidating and cowering the rest
of us through violence know that we know all of you, your paymasters, and even your rat holes where you are hiding. Any more attacks or threats against Peter Obi will no longer be treated with silence or without consequences”,the statement noted.
Drawing parallels with the political trajectory of former United States President Donald Trump, the movement expressed confidence that Obi would overcome opposition and emerge victorious in the 2027 presidential election.
“Be it known to you all wishing PO death that just as Trump survived every attack during his campaigns and went ahead to win the presidential election with an unprecedented landslide victory and he is today rescuing the world from the grip of wicked men without
conscience like those of you in Nigeria, so shall Peter Gregory Obi outlive all of you and he will go ahead and win the 2027 presidential election with a landslide victory and successfully carry out the mission of rescuing Nigeria from the crime scene which you have turned the country into. That is what the God Most High called him
to do and that purpose must be fulfilled”,they stressed.
Reaffirming its loyalty, the Obedient Movement declared unwavering support for Obi’s leadership and ideology, insisting it would continue to stand by him until what it described as the “New Nigeria mission” is accomplished.
