Petitions flood APC amid nomination forms hoarding allegations

Ahead of the National Convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, scheduled for March 26 and 27, the National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda is battling with petitions bordering on hoarding of nomination forms for persons of choice despite payment by aspirants of various national offices.
The APC which has been ballooned with defections and controlling 34 State governors out of 36 is currently grappling with internal crisis few days to its national convention.

The national convention has been slated to take place at the Eagle Square, Abuja.
The aggrieved aspirants who were denied issuance of nomination forms accused the party leadership of adopting a “tactical approach” to edge them out of the race through the denial of nomination forms.

Mr Dagogo Gubara, an aspirant from Rivers State, vying for the position of Zonal Vice Chairman (South-South), has petitioned the party National Secretariat alleging obsttuction to edge him out of the race, despite payment of N5.1 million.
CAPITAL POST reported on Sunday that the screening Committee led by the former Governor of Bauchi State, Malam Isa Yuguda has scheduled screening of candidates for Tuesday at the Transcorp preparatory for the National Convention this weekend.
“I do not wish to believe that the delay or refusal… is a tactical approach to exclude me,” he said, warning that time was running out ahead of the convention.
In a letternof protest by Fubara, he raised serious issues of plans to play foul against him, stressing that it takes time to fill nomination forms while the National Convention was close, insisting that he should be offered his form to enable him fill it on time.
Also, Mr Oyiborume Paul Yovwe, who is contesting for the office of the National Secretary position, also alleged irregularities against him, claiming that they refused to issue him receipt after paymentof N7.1 million for nomination form.
“I went to the financial department to clear my payment and convert the teller to a receipt, but they refused.
“When I asked why, I was told the form for the position of national secretary had already been assigned to one person,” Yovwe alleged.
However, sources within the National Secretariat of APC indicated that the party would be strict in observance of zoning formula.
The formula effectively dismisses Mr Yovwe from the race, as he is from Delta State (South South), while the position he is seeking – national secretary – is zoned to the South-West, with the incumbent from Osun State.
The party maintained its elimination by zoning and advised aspirants to aspire to national offices based on zoning formula.
