There are only two political parties in Nigeria, APC and others – Uzodimma

The Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), Hope Uzodimma, has declared that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) remains unmatched in Nigeria’s political space.

Uzodimma made this assertion on Tuesday during a visit to the APC national headquarters in Abuja, where he assessed the party’s preparedness for its upcoming electronic membership registration exercise.

He was accompanied by the Governors of Kogi and Delta States, Usman Ododo and Sheriff Oborevwori.

Speaking on the state of the party ahead of the next general elections, Uzodimma emphasized the APC’s dominance.

Reacting to a recent criticism by a coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which warned that retaining the APC in power beyond 2027 would be disastrous, the Imo State Governor responded,“It is their claim, not our claim. I know that there are only two parties in Nigeria, All Progressive Congress and Others.”

On the readiness of the party’s e-registration initiative, Uzodimma expressed satisfaction with the level of preparation,“We have inspected and conducted a trip round the facilities and we are highly impressed with what we saw and also confident that any moment from now our e-registration exercise will start in full force.”

Also speaking during the visit, APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, described the exercise as a significant step towards strengthening party membership and engagement nationwide.

“We can actually know people who are going to vote for us, we can predict the number of people that are supporting us and deepen our base also in each state. This is what we are doing, it will help us in research, it will help us in deepening technology, it will help our relationship in providing support for our members also at all levels,” he stated.

Addressing the relationship between the party leadership and APC governors, Yilwatda emphasized unity and collaboration within the party,“You can see it, very cordial, very much so, we are exemplary. When it comes to APC, we are exemplary and you can see it in the way we conduct ourselves in the NEC, you can see how the Governors are relating with the party, you can see how the members are relating with the party, how we have made this party attractive to the people, attractive to the nation, attractive also to the Governors also.”
