2027: Ohafia women vow to bring down Senator Kalu

Trouble is spewing for Senator Orji Uzor Kalu as Ohafia women and youths trooped to the Police Zone 9 headquarters in Umuahia insisting that they would bring down Kalu in 2027 general election.

Amid tear gas to disperse the angry women and youths, they said, their votes would not be for Kalu for referring Ohafia as an “IPOB zone” during the 2023 Abia North Senatorial election.

The youth members operating under the aegis of the Ohafia Youth Association (OYA), which reportedly declared the Abia North Senator persona non grata in the area over the unsavory comment insisted that Kalu will not come back in 2027.

They were in Zone 9, Police following petition lodged by Senator Kalu against the Ohafia Youth Association to the Zone 9 Command.

The youth group honoured the invitation of the Police and appeared at the Zone 9 headquarters to answer the petition against them, but from where anger was stoked and escalated when they returned again in their large numbers, insisting that Kalu remain banned in their land.

According to the protesters, the alleged “IPOB zone” comment in 2023 was deeply offensive and politically damaging, arguing that based on that declaration, the senator has “no moral standing” to return to Ohafia in 2027 to canvass for votes.
