Nenadi Usman takes over party secretariat as LP Chairman overcomes crisis

Labour Party Chairman, Senator Nenadi Usman, on Tuesday took over the National Secretatiat of the Labour Party having overcome legal hurdles.
She is the first female party chairman since the return to democracy in 1999.

Photograph of Senator Nenadi adorned the surroundings of the party secretariat as at Tuesday morning suggesting effective takeover of party after leadership crisis with Mr Abure-led faction.
A visit to the secretariat showed that Photographs of the embattled Julius Abure have been removed to pave the way for Nenadi Usman’s large banner to be pasted.

Nenadi’s resumption followed Court judgement affirming her as the authentic Chairman of Labour party.
Labour Party supporters and staff on Tuesday thronged to the secretariat awaiting further developments as activities gradually picked up.
The atmosphere, though calm, reflected a sense of anticipation over what many described as a defining moment for the party.
