Security: Combined security agents crush kidnappers in Kogi East recovers, dangerous weapons
Amid surge in dangerous kidnappings in Kogi East Senatorial District, the combined security forces successfully crushed a gang kidnappers terrorising the district lately.
The operation by the joint security, including Army, Police, local vigilantes and hunters crushed the kidnappers who have been terrorising motorists and commuters playing Itobe – Aloji – Abocho – Ochadamu – Ejule highway in Selina Local Government Council.

The breakthrough was as a result of the earlier arrest of a kidnapper identified as Bashir Abdula Atama, a son of a well known Islamic cleric in the area.
His interrogation by security agents and confession that he has been part of several kidnapping incidents in the troubled area led to the killing of the APC Divisional Chairman in Dekina LGA, Yunusa Ishaq.
Security agents deepened their operation based on Atama’s confession leading to the killing of Hassan Okpiekele in Aloji and Kabiru Alkali in Abocho.
CAPITAL POST gathered that the operation led to the arrest of 2 suspects
including Newman Sanni, who was described as the gang leader. Sanni was allegedly a close friend of the late APC chairman and reportedly attended his burial while pretending to be a mourner.
Three other operatives named in the kidnapping gang were on the run as the time of this report.
Agents revealed one of the fleeing kidnappers who is also annex-soldier as Muhammed Akubo popularly called Onuche Awol.
Intelligence revealed that they were responsible for kidnapping of motorists and passengers along the Ejule-Ochadamu-Itobe highway and Abocho axis.
The latest kidnapping by the gang was on September 23, when a mother and her four children were kidnapped while returning from a burial ceremony along the Abocho-Ajekeleaga road.
