2027: Tinubu rejects Akpabio’s plea for automatic ticket for lawmakers, leave fate in hands of governors
Few weeks to party primaries, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has rejected the plea by the Senate President, Godswill Obot Akpabio on behalf lawmakers to secure automatic return tickets.
The leadership of both chambers led by Akpabio have intensified lobby for automatic ticket for sitting legislators in the upcoming 2027 general election in the guise of stability of the legislature, a move that was rebuffed.
CAPITAL POST, gathered that President Tinubu rather recognised the authority of state governors and placed the fate of lawmakers in hands of their various State governors.
In a meeting with the State executives on Thursday evening, Tinubu was said to have empowered State governors to drive the All Progressives Congress primaries.
