Osun Deputy Governor, Adewusi risks impeachment as PDP passes ‘vote of no confidence’ over anti-party activities

In what may be a gradual step to the impeachment of the Deputy Government of Osun State, Kola Adewusi, a report has indicted him of anti-party activities, a ‘vote of no confidence’ has passed on him by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ife Federal Constituency, Osun State.

PDP stalwarts in the State who were also indicted and found guilty of anti-parties are the party’s former National Secretary and Board member, Professor Wale Oladipo, and the PDP Chairman of Ife East Local Government, Hon. Olasunkanmi Makinde, popularly known as Benco.

The decision was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of a constituency meeting held at the senatorial leader’s residence in Ile-Ife on Monday evening.

The party leaders accused Adewusi and Oladipo of “hobnobbing” with Hon. Taofeek Ajilesoro, the member of the House of Representatives who recently defected from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The communiqué, signed by PDP Financial Secretary, Adesoji Adegoke; former Deputy Speaker, Ropo Oyewale; and 27 others, including two serving commissioners, Commissioner for Education, Dipo Eluwole, and Commissioner for Inter-Party Affairs, Biyi Odunlade, said such actions posed “a danger to the party in Ifeland.”

It partly read, “A vote of no confidence is passed on Prof. Wale Oladipo, the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi, and the PDP Chairman of Ife East Local Government, Hon. Olasunkanmi Makinde (a.k.a Benco).”

In a swift reaction, Professor Oladipo dismissed the resolution, describing those behind it as “jesters” who lacked the authority to take such action.
“They are a group of jesters, who can hardly be identified as party members in Ife. I am an Ife man; I cannot be an enemy of another Ife person. My duty, and that of the Deputy Governor, is to bring more people to the fold, not to fight them,” Oladipo told journalists.

He challenged those who claimed to have passed the resolution to “come out, address the press, and pronounce their decision publicly.”
