Is governor Namadi Dan Modi for all Jigawans?

By Adamu Muhd Usman
Neither my father nor my mother was a civil servant who benefited from pension before their demise, but the plight of retirees caught my attention. I was deeply impressed by Jigawa State’s commitment and practical outcome under the able leadership of His Excellency, Malam Umar Namadi (FCA) a.k.a Dan Modi.

What I call a realistic and functional commitment was before now a nightmare and a worrisome affair. In the past, retirees and their families automatically lost hope after service.
Many developed high blood pressure, some suffered stroke, some died. Their children dropped out of school, some could not marry due to lack of funds, some females took immoral paths due to hardship. Trauma, debts, and legal conflicts became a horror film for Jigawa retirees. Life was threatening and deadly.

When Malam Umar Namadi came on board, he brought special, passionate and holistic thinking to this deadly issue. He revisited the scheme and entrusted it to competent and faithful hands.
From 2023 to 2026, Governor Namadi injected over Fifteen Billion Naira (N15 billion) into the pension scheme to prevent its collapse and to ensure workers enjoy a secure life after service. In the same vein, over Fifteen Billion Naira (N15 billion) has as well been disbursed to over six thousand (#6,000) of beneficiaries as terminal benefits, death pension and death pension balances.
The payment covers retired staff from the State, Local Government Councils and Local Education Authorities (LEAs), with monthly pension paid on the first day of every month.
This is Malam’s model – dedication to workers’ welfare and service delivery. It is worth extolling and emulating, and it is instilling confidence in retiring civil servants. Today, more than 20 states have visited Jigawa to study and emulate the Dan Modi pension model.
The crisis and nightmare of pension stuff of retirees’ benefits in some places of underpayment, delay and non-compliance of payment when due or on time, it is a history of the past in Jigawa state.
Pension is for all Jigawans. These retirees are our grandfathers, grandmothers, fathers, mothers, uncles, aunties, teachers, mentors, bosses, neighbours, spouses, relatives, siblings, colleagues, mates and associates. If pension is for all Jigawans, then Governor Namadi Dan Modi is truly for all Jigawans.
My question,
But please no insult.
Can Jigawans ignore, deprive, reject, deny or abandon their own?
