CAPITAL POST reports that the criminals were earlier arrested by the operatives
of the DSS, soldiers and policemen.

Other members of the gang were said to have fled with gunshot injuries during the operation launched against the suspected kidnappers, triggering security agencies to intensify efforts to track them down.

The operation in the rescue of the prospective Corps members stirred controversies with claims of some families of the victims that ransom was paid.

But in a swift reaction by the Commissioner of Police in Imo State, he countered the assertion and insisted that ransom wasn’t paid. He said it was a pure rescue operation with some abductors fleeing with gunshot wounds.
