BREAKING: Produce primary election documents that made Kingsley Chinda candidate – Court to INEC

Tension heightened in Rivers politics on Thursday as a Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to produce documents relating to the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship primaries held in 2026.
The Court order was sequel to an application by a lawyer Samuel Amatonjie, urging the Court to compel INEC to provide certified true copies of the APC membership register submitted to the commission on April , 2026.

The lawyer also demanded for a letter dated the same day notifying INEC that the All Progressives Congress, would hold its planned primaries.
In a separate order, the court judge also directed the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Clerk to the National Assembly to produce certified true copies of the House of Representatives’ records of proceedings, known as the Hansard, covering the period from April to June second, twenty twenty-six.

When the case came up in court, Amatonjie explained why the documents were important to the suit, after which the presiding judge granted his applications.
Meanwhile, counsel to the PDP, Senior Advocate of Nigeria Paul Daudu, and counsel to Kingsley Ogundu-Chinda, Dike Udenna, complained about what they described as the late service of the plaintiff’s response to their objection challenging the court’s jurisdiction to hear the case.
They consequently asked the court for more time to respond to the plaintiff’s counter-affidavit.
Justice Muhammed Turaki, after listening to the lawyers, directed all parties to file and exchange the necessary court documents.
The case was subsequently adjourned to December tenth, twenty twenty-six, for hearing.
