Following President Bola Tinubu’s visit to victims of the Angwan Rukuba attack in Jos North Local Government Area, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has called for urgent, coordinated, and technology-driven security measures to end the recurring killings in Plateau State.

This was contained in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Media and Communications Strategy, Abimbola Tooki.

The APC chairman, who described the President’s visit as a demonstration of responsive leadership and solidarity with grieving communities, condemned the killings as “inhuman, cowardly, and reprehensible.” He warned that the continued loss of innocent lives in Plateau must no longer be met with routine outrage or temporary responses.

“The time has come for deliberate, coordinated, and result-oriented efforts by all relevant authorities and stakeholders to ensure that such acts never happen again,” he said.

Yilwatda urged security agencies to overhaul their operational strategies, advocating the adoption of modern surveillance and intelligence-driven tools, including drones and real-time tracking systems, to tackle increasingly sophisticated criminal networks.

He also called on community leaders and residents to be more vigilant, stressing that perpetrators of the violence often exploit local vulnerabilities and must be identified and brought to justice.

The APC chairman warned that persistent insecurity poses grave economic consequences for Plateau, noting that the state’s tourism and agricultural potential remain stunted by recurring violence. He added that no meaningful development can thrive in an atmosphere of fear and instability.

He further advocated a whole-of-society approach, urging traditional rulers, religious leaders, political actors, and other stakeholders to work together to restore peace and stability.

President Tinubu, who was received by Governor Caleb Mutfwang, political leaders, and community stakeholders, also visited families of victims, offering condolences and assurances of the Federal Government’s commitment to addressing the crisis.

The APC said the visit underscores the government’s resolve to confront violent attacks and pursue lasting solutions to the security challenges in Plateau State.
