Rivers Governor Fubara dissolves cabinet

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has dissolved his cabinet in order to reposition the State, asking all Commissioners, Special Advisers and Assistants and other political appointees to handover to the most senior officials in their respective ministries and agencies.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Onwuka Nzeshi on Thursday in Port Harcourt.

The Governor commended the outgoing cabinet members and other political appointees for their commitment to the administration and wished them well in their future careers.
The dissolution followed a meeting with President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja, where Tinubu was said to have brokered peace.

The meeting took place last Sunday amid political turmoil between Fubara and his estranged political godfather, Nyesom Wike.
Almost entire members of Rivers State House of Assembly are loyal to Nyesom Wike and were hell-bent on impeaching Governor Fubara, but for intervention of forces beyond Rivers, the impeachment could not proceed, though still hanging on his head like the ‘Sword of Damocles’.
