2027: North Central group rallies behind Tinubu, says victory assured

A political advocacy group in North Central Nigeria, the North Central Agenda (NCA), has declared its unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, pledging to mobilise voters across the region to ensure his victory.

The group said President Tinubu’s administration has reversed years of infrastructural neglect and insecurity in the region through strategic investments in roads, agriculture, education and security under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Speaking at the one-day North Central Development Conference held on Tuesday in Abuja, the Convener of the North Central Agenda, Dr. Ene Lilian Ogbole, said the President’s policies had brought renewed hope and visible development to a region that had long suffered from socio-economic challenges.

Addressing stakeholders from the six North Central states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ogbole said the region had been grappling with severe infrastructure deficits and worsening insecurity before the current administration assumed office on May 29, 2023.

“Since assuming office on the 29th of May, 2023, President Tinubu has demonstrated courage in making difficult decisions aimed at securing the region’s long-term, all-round prosperity.

“For the people of the North Central region, these efforts have brought renewed hope and visible progress,” she said.

She cited several ongoing federal road projects as evidence of the administration’s commitment to the region, including the Calabar–Ebonyi–Benue–Kogi–Nasarawa–Abuja Super Highway, the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway, which passes through Niger and Kwara states, the Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe–Maiduguri Highway, the Suleja–Minna Dual Carriageway, the Lokoja–Okene Dualisation, and the Makurdi–Aliade–Otukpo Road.

Ogbole also commended the Federal Government’s interventions in the education sector through increased funding for the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and student support provided under the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).

According to her, the administration has also restored stability to the nation’s tertiary education system by ending the recurring industrial actions that previously disrupted academic activities.

On agriculture and security, she said intensified military operations against banditry, kidnapping and other criminal activities had improved security in farming communities, enabling farmers to return to their farms and businesses to resume operations.

Describing the North Central as a decisive voting bloc in Nigeria’s democratic history, Ogbole argued that the equitable distribution of development projects across the country had strengthened public confidence in the Tinubu administration.

“The fair and judicious spread of capital projects to all the geopolitical zones by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has changed the narrative from negative to positive, from neglect to recognition, and now to socio-economic, structural and infrastructural transformation of the entire North Central zone,” she said.

She announced that the organisation would embark on an extensive mobilisation campaign across the region ahead of the 2027 general election.

“We are pledging to mobilise massively like never before across all the North Central states to support the re-election of the President, who has brought us from doom to the dawn of a new era.

“For us, as the mouthpiece of the North Central people, this re-election is a done deal, as we will stop at nothing within the confines of the law to ensure that his victory is secured,” Ogbole said.
