Brace up for defeat in Saturday’s election – Minister Oyetola to Governor Adeleke
Nigeria’s Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has told the governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke to brace up for defeat in Saturday’s governorship election.
He carpeted the governor’s endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying that it would not save him, as the All Progressives Congress, APC was focused on regaining power in Pain State.

The Minister, who is a former governor of Osun State, handed this down to Adeleke at the APC stakeholders and supporters meeting in Osogbo, capital of Osun State.
The Minister relocated from Abuja to Osun for Mobilisation of electorate ahead of the scheduled governorship election in Osun on August 15, 2026.
Oyetola lost governorship election to governor Adeleke in 2022, when he recontested for a second term of office on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Oyetola boasted that Ademola’s claims that members of the Accord party were facing intimidation would not change th.
Speaking in Yoruba, the Minister said governor Adeleke seems to have had a hint of losing control of the State which could be deducted from his frequent complaints
According to him, his open endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would not save the day as the APC was sure-bet in reclaiming Osun State, insisted that the president’s backing would not alter what he described as the political reality confronting the governor ahead of Saturday’s poll.
The minister also played down Adeleke’s frequent references to him, explaining that he had intentionally refrained from responding to the governor through public exchanges.
Oyetola said he had chosen not to engage Adeleke publicly despite the governor’s repeated mentions of his name during political activities in the state, Oyetola said his silence was deliberate.
He said, “If he sleeps and has nightmares, he will say he saw me. If his wife gave him food late, he would say I’m responsible for that.
“My name is so sweet in his mouth. Meanwhile, we are not even interested in his case. If we get interested in his case, he will feel it.”
