NELFUND reiterates commitment to zero tolerance for corruption in fund delivery

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund, NELFUND has reiterated its commitment to zero tolerance for corruption in fund delivery to students across higher institutions.
To that extent, the agency said, it would continue to strengthen transparency, accountability and ethical governance across its operations.

While inaugurating and inducting its anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU), on Monday in Abuja, the fund said, the event marked a significant milestone for the Fund.
In his welcoming address, the Managing Director/Chief Executive, Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, stressed the Management’s commitment to integrity-driven systems, and robust internal controls.

Also in attendance from NELFUND were the Executive Director, Operations, Mr. Mustapha Iyal, Directors, Heads of Units, as well as team members from supporting departments.
The induction ceremony featured a goodwill message delivered by the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, who commended NELFUND’s management and staff for facilitating the successful establishment of the ACTU. He described the Unit as a critical internal mechanism for identifying systemic weaknesses, promoting ethical standards, and supporting compliance across MDAs.
The ICPC Chairman emphasized that the ACTU operates as a complementary support structure to management, not a replacement, and called for continuous institutional support to enable the Unit to effectively discharge its responsibilities.
The inauguration of the ACTU aligns with NELFUND’s vision of providing equitable access to education financing while upholding the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and public trust.
The management therefore encouraged all staff to cooperate fully with the ACTU and to continue conducting their duties with diligence, professionalism, and ethical responsibility.
