15 Southeast bound kidnapped victims rescued after gun battle in Kogi
Operatives of Kogi State Police Command courageous engaged kidnapped after intercepting a Southeast bound passengers and kidnapped them.
The victims were kidnapped along the Itobe–Anyigba Highway in Ofu Local Government Area in Kogi East Senatorial District.
Distress call was made to the Police patrol team who gave them a hot chase and engage abductors in gun duel leading to rescue of all passengers, including the driver.
The incident occurred at about 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2026, between Ojuwo Ajengo and Mamerebo, a known kidnapping flashpoint along the Itobe–Achigili axis of the highway.
Security agents comprise of Police and vigilante group have intensified security surveillance along the road from Ajaokuta-itobe-ochadamu-Anyigba.
