Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has posted General Officer Commandings, GOCs, to the four newly established Army Divisions in less than a week after their establishmemt.
The appointment and posting of GOCs by the COAS was meant to strengthen security as intended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The Nigeria Army’s X post on Wednesday noted that, “the the new formations would begin operations after attaining Initial Operational Capability, while deliberate measures would be taken to achieve Full Operational Capability.
“The landmark development forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the Nigerian Army’s force structure, expand its operational footprint, enhance command and control as well as improve the Service’s capacity to effectively respond to Nigeria’s evolving security challenges,” the post read.
