Nigeria’s Civi Rights activist and the All Progressives Congress, APC Senatorial candidate for Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani, said the 2027 presidential race should be between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Peter Obi and other Southerners.

He said the South should complete their eight years presidency without interruption, hence, Atiku Abubakar shouldn’t be in the race this time.

In a post on his verified X handle, sighted by CAPITAL POST in Abuja on Thursday, Sani who formerly represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the eight National Assembly, said the rotational presidency though not constitutional, but is an equitable remedy that balances power across zones.

He wrote: “The 2027 political contest should be between Tinubu, Peter Obi, Sowore, Makinde, Adebayo, Duke and other Southern Candidates.

“The South should complete its eight years. It’s not constitutional but it’s equitable. We should not bury our heads in the sand and deny the realities and complexities of our history.

“The North should have an unchallengeable right in 2031. Those who say there shouldn’t be respect for the principle of rotation of power in 2027, should know that it WILL NOT be respected in 2031.”

Atiku Abubakar is from Adamawa State in the Northeastern Nigeria and is contesting for presidency on the platform of the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
