‘Acting for peanuts’ – Actress Toyin Abraham speaks on unrewarding side of Nollywood
Popular Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham has spoken out her experience on how tortuous it was for her to start making money in acting.
The thespian in a hold-no-bar interview with Nolly TV, said she joined the Nigerian film industry 25 years ago and didn’t start making good money until after 8 years ago.

Toyin noted that things only changed for her years later when her career began to grow and she started getting better-paying roles and production opportunities.
She said: “I just started making money 8 years ago, and I’ve been in the film industry since 2001. Back then, we acted and got peanuts, but we did it just to survive.”
In other news, Nollywood actress, Shine Rosman, has opened up on the financial condition of many actors in the Nigerian movie industry, saying the public often believes actors are wealthier than they truly are.
