FG will continue to engage Catholic Bishops, other organisations – SGF Akume
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, George Akume said, the Federal Government will continue to partner and engage Catholic Bishops Conference and other faith-based organisations and stakeholders to address issues that bothers on security and economic challenges.
In a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja, Akume declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu believes in engaging the relevant stakeholders in attempt to proffer lasting and sustainable solutions to challenges bedevilling the country.

“President Tinubu believes, lasting solutions require sustained partnership with faith-based organisations, traditional institutions, civil society, the private sector and citizens.”
Akume maintained that the administration remains open to constructive criticism and honest advice, stressing that the meeting with Catholic Bishops covered issues including security, the economy, education, public services, electoral credibility and religious freedom.
While stressed the administration’s resolve to uphold the democratic principles, Akume added that neither it seeks nor supports a one-party state and will continue to respect the independence of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
He also acknowledged the Catholic Church’s contributions to national development and assured that consultations with the Bishops and other stakeholders would continue in the interest of peace, national unity and sustainable development.
