Terror Attack: PDP demands Tinubu’s resignation, says, he’s ran out of ideas

The opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has demanded for the resignation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following the spike in terror attacks across the country, saying he has ran out of ideas in combating terrorism in Nigeria.

The recently inaugurated Kabiru Turaki-led National Working Committee of PDP said in a statement on Sunday that it was a tradition anywhere in the world that if government in power cannot protect lives and property as its primary mandate, the next option available was resignation.

The party said, the closure of schools across northern states was panicky measure of a government lacking capacity to secure its citizens, adding that the spike in banditry and kidnapping has left trail of sorrows and anguish among Nigerians.

CAPITAL POST reported that 303 students and 12 teachers were abducted from St. Mary’s Catholic Missionary School, Papiri in Agwara Local Government Council in Niger State in the North Central Nigeria, while 25 female students were abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga in Kebbi State in the North Western Nigeria few days before the Niger tragic attack.

PDP declared that the APC government was preferring quick and untested measures to tackling the menace of terrorism instead of developing a comprehensive approach to it.

The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr ini Ememobong Essien, speaking on the PDP’s position in Abuja on Sunday, advised the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government to either seek urgent help or resign if it was incapable of finding solutions to insecurity.

“We again remind the President, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and the entire APC-led administration that the security of lives and property is the primary function of any government.

“At any time, a government is unwilling, unable, or incapable of executing this primary role; such a government must either ask for help (locally or internationally) or honorably resign, if it is sincere and responsible,” the party demanded.

In what the party described as ‘quick fix’ approach by the APC government, it said, is counterproductive and cannot tackle terrorism.
