My parents were jihadists, settled in Nigeria in 1925 – Datti Baba Ahmed

Ex-Vice Presidential candidate in the 2023 general election on Labour Party, Datti Baba Ahmed has disclosed that his parents and great grand parents were jihadists who migrated from the North Africa to settle in Nigeria in 1925.

He stated this in an interview with Seun Okinbaloye on Mic On Podcast, explained that his father comes from jihadists who were “Quran memorizers” and established schools across different areas.

According to him, his father was from
the French colonies in North Africa, in today’s Mauritania, Algeria and Morocco.

Ahmed added that his father’s choice of settling close to a publishing press owned by the British in Nigeria was because he was involved in writing and publishing.

He said: “Our dad of blessed memory settled in Nigeria in 1925. He comes from an Islamic background, his clan descended from the jihadists who were the memorizers of Quran that set up schools all along”
