Families of abducted prospective NYSC members paid ransom in millions for their release
According to the News Central Television, families of the abducted 20 prospective NYSC members allegedly paid ransom in millions to secure their freedom from the kidnappers den.
The families who spoke to the television disclosed that some relatives paid more than N3 million, while others paid more than N6 million.

A disturbing mother of one of the Corps members narrated that she “paid as much as N3 million as ransom in the hope that nothing happened to my child. I ran helter-skelter to raise the money.”
She said she has to source money from relatives and friends and sent someone to deliver as ransom in Imo State. She told the News Central Television.
Similarly, a father of one of the Corps members told the television that he paid N6 million ransom for his abducted son to regain freedom.
He explained: “We had to converge somewhere in Ibadan, Oyo State to put the money together. Some of us even changed the money to dollars and sent it to Imo State to meet whoever was coming to pick it.”
He expressed happiness that his son is coming out alive, but expressed deep concern on how he will pay back as a farmer he is.
CAPITAL POST on Wednesday reported that the prospective Corps members regained their freedom, but couldn’t confirm if they were released after ransom payment.
They were abducted on 1st October while travelling from Onitsha to Owerri for orientation.
