BREAKING: Scores injured as armed Amotekun operatives open fire at APC rally in Ilesha
The All Progressives Congress, APC is currently treating casualties of gunshots on Saturday as armed Amotekun operatives allegedly opened fire at the APC’s rally in Ilesha, Osun State.
The casualties of the gunshots which include a 12-year old boy were said to have been evacuated to unamed hospital for medical attention.

A statement issued by the APC Campaign Council on Saturday and signed by Engr Oluremi Omowaiye Head, Media and Publicity Committee, Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council, fingered the Chief Whip of Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Wale Akerele as leading some armed members of the Amotekun operatives to the venue of the rally.
The allegation has not been confirmed by CAPITAL POST at the time of this report, but casualties from the scene of the attack were obvious.
The APC Campaign Council in Osun State in a statement, strongly condemned the attack.
The statement reads:
The Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council strongly condemns the unprovoked and violent attack on our peaceful campaign rally this morning in Ilesa West by the Chief Whip of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Wale Akerele, alongside operatives of the Amotekun Corps.
“Our members were holding a peaceful campaign procession in Ilesa West when Hon. Akerele, accompanied by armed Amotekun personnel, opened direct fire on the crowd.
“Scores of APC members sustained injuries while scampering for safety. Four individuals, including a 12-year-old boy, Oluwatobi Ilesanmi, were shot.
“The victims of the gunfire have been rushed to an undisclosed hospital in Ilesa for urgent medical attention.
“We call on the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant security agencies to immediately arrest and investigate Hon. Wale Akerele and the participating Amotekun operatives.
“APC urges all well-meaning citizens and civil society organizations to condemn this continuous and reckless maiming of innocent citizens by the ruling party elements.
“Our party and members remain undeterred and will not be cowed by these desperate, violent tactics of the ruling party in the state”, the statement concluded.
