Nigeria at 66: Labour Party presidential candidate Okereke expresses hope for citizens
As Nigeria celebrates 66 years anniversary, the Labour Party, LP Presidential Candidate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chibuzo Okereke, has has admonished Nigerians to have hope in their country.
In a statement he made available to journalists and made available to CAPITAL POST on Thursday in Abuja, the legislative expert turned politician said, he is an incurable optimist and he believe that Nigeria will work for the citizens.

He said: “At 66, we continue our journey to nationhood. I am an incurable optimist about the limitless possibilities of the Nigerian State. As a country, we have witnessed several slides as well as strides in the last 66 years. Some of our independence challenges still subsist; however, we have survived as a country. And because we have survived, there is hope and where there is hope, there is life.
“As we continue our journey to nationhood, we must reflect and anchor ourselves on Nigerians First.
“The Nigerians First Governance Philosophy calls for direct, intentional and deliberate love for, and by, the Nigerian people. Government must exist for the people and strive to advance the best of humanity.
“We must rise to the responsibility and demands of leadership by choosing to love more, care more, show more empathy and extend greater compassion. These are not merely ideals; they are essential to building a nation that ultimately uplifts its people and advances the wellbeing of all. The struggle for the independence of Nigeria 66 years ago was inspired by these ideals.
“The ideal that we matter as a people and we must be involved and take charge of our governmental affairs for the greater good of all of our people.
“At 66, our story is one of endurance, resilience, possibility and hope. Our journey continues, and our responsibility is to ensure that the Nigerian people remain at the heart of that journey.
“Congratulations and Happy 66th Independence Anniversary, Nigeria!
“May the Labours of Our Heros’ Past Never be in vain. May we lead and witness a country where no man is oppressed.”
